2023 E450 wagon 2011 Toyota Tacoma
Is this normal?

I bought a CPO 2011 E350 4matic wagon from a not local MB dealer about two weeks ago and I just noticed the insulation under the hood is starting to peels away in a couple of places. Is this normal? Is it just cosmetic? Is it something that they should have corrected before they sold it as Certified Pre-Owned?

I'm taking the vehicle to my local MB dealer next week because of another issue so any insight into what's going on here would be appreciated.

I honestly do believe it's normal, my previous E350 had the same peeling issue, and my current E550 has the peeling issue as well. Doesn't really hinder anything, just irritating to look at i guess.

There's an engineering change to address this problem. Had it done to my car. Search for it in the Bulletins' sticky at the beginning of the posts so you can give them the number when you go in.

Correct, there is a TSB to address this. Deformation of engine compartment soundproofing due to water ingress. LI62.25-P-056043 defective seal. Install optimized seal part # 2126280800.

Not a big deal, but they should address this for you especially since you just bought it. You should go to the sticky thread and look for other issues.
