Collision warning system with active braking
The wife Just picked up a 2014 ML350, it has option 258, which is collision warning system with active braking intervention, FCW stop. I know this is the wrong forum, but there doesn't seem to be too much activities in the ML forum and the E-class has the same option in the 2014 model year. The salesman told us the car will not apply the brakes automatically for us in an event of a possible collision, it seems to me the name of the option implies otherwise. Does anybody have this system and know exactly how it work, a brief description is much appreciated.

The system gives the driver a visual warning if a vehicle in front is too close. On detecting the danger of a collision there is an acoustic warning, driver braking can be assisted and, if the driver fails to react, the speed can be reduced autonomously.

I have DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot (233), so while I have the CPA functionality, I've never driven an E without DISTRONIC and can't comment on how they act differently.
My only complaint with CPA is that it gives the same 'ding ding' tone as the Blind Spot Assist warning. When you're driving aggressively the beeps can be confusing (am I gaining ground on someone too quickly or is there someone in my blind spot?).

I am still not sure if I have auto braking. The menu on my car doesnt look like the one in the video, it is group together with with lane departure and blind spot warning, but it does have the same warning tone as the blind spot warning and I agree, it gets confusing.
