2011 E350 4Matic Transmission Mount DIY
After fighting an idle vibration issue when in drive or reverse I pulled the trigger on a transmission mount (engine mounts looked ok and had vibration in back of seat). I was apprehensive because I could not find any diy for a 4matic, which have a different style transmission mount. Turns out the mount takes about 10 minutes to change once up in the air. Steps are listed above pictures.
Raise car and remove plastic shield (not pictured) which covers half of the transmission pan. Then slightly raise the transmission so it is supported by the jack. I used a piece of wood I found and a bottle jack. A hydraulic jack would make it even easier, but mine was being used. My bottle jack was still easy to turn by hand though, the transmission doesnt weigh much.
Next there are 5 nuts holding the transmission mount to the crossmember (circled in red) and 8 bolts (4 each side) on the crossmember that need to come off. They were very easy to remove, unfortunately I did not note the socket sizes, but nothing unusual. You will need a deep socket for the 5 mount nuts. NOTE: The transmission must be supported before removing these bolts.
With the crossmember removed you will see the tranny mount. There are 4 bolts (2 each side) holding the mount to the transmission. You can see them in the picture on the top of the mount next to each other. Remove these bolts and the mount will separate.
Old (left) vs new. This was a Corteco mount. I think they might be who manufactures the OEM mounts, but it was much cheaper than at the dealer and I figured considering the OEM only lasted approx 60k miles it cant get much worse. I bought the car with 66k miles and it had the vibration, so I really dont know how long it lasted.
It stall the new mount in reverse order. I had to jack the transmission pan up approx a 1/2 more to get the crossmember bolts close enough to the frame to tighten. Once installed my idle in any gear is very smooth, no signs of vibration at all. Unfortunately I couldn't find any specs on the torque values for this model, so I just "man torqued" everything, but the bolts weren't too hard to remove so I didnt go crazy.

Sounds like I'll be changing my trans mount to very soon. I'm at 77K and I have the same vibration. Might even take a chance and diy as it doesn't seem to hard to change.

This is great! The dealership wants to charge me $400 to do this. Do you know the exact part number you used? I have a 2011 4matic as well.
It looks like this is the right one, can you confirm?

11 e350 4matic wagon OEM transmission mount is part # 2042400618, aftermarket search “Corteco 2042400618”.

Thanks so much. And while we're at it, do you know the aftermarket part # for the engine mounts on this as well? I've found a few around. But if you guys have purchased them before from a reputable place, I'll follow your lead.

Just did the swap...took maybe 30mins total. Which included 5-10mins of me searching for the my 13mm deep socket. Really need to organize my tool drawers!
Here are the sizes for all 3 sets of bolts
(8) bolts on the sides: 16mm
(5) bolts on the mount: 13mm (deep)
(4) bolts on mount to tranny: 10mm
Thanks to all above for the help and awesome write-up. I plan to tackle the engine mounts and a spark plug swap in the next few weekends.

Great write-up! Hate to hijack an old thread, but does anyone know if this PN is the same for E550 4matics?
