Hood chips

My 2 year old E250 already has several hood chips. It seems I'm prone to flying rocks. One of them goes down to the white.

So, what is the best way to touch them up? I've used those little brush based touchup paints before on other cars and they end up looking like crap. I'm sure there is technique involved that I'm not aware of.

- Should I just dab on touch up paint?
- Should I take it to a PDR shop? How much would they charge?
- Should I let the dealership do it?

Thanks

I use the M-B touch up paint purchased on line or from the dealer, but I use the match technique instead of the supplied crappy brush with great success. Take a paper match stick from the book and tear it out. Transfer paint from the supplied brush to the ragged end of the match and then carefully use this to paint into the chip. This delivers a much smaller amount of paint that you can better control for good results.

Thank you, the match technique sounds like the help I was looking for.

+1 for match technique. I think you should wait at least a day before you wash or wax to allow for curing.

Many also highly recommend the langka chip repair kit

Look at Langka.com It smooths away blobs and provides a clearcoat to put over the factory paint repair.

Have had great success with dr. Color chip...no paint blobs. Check out their web site, good videos and very easy to apply.
