will STAR machine help figure this out

car starts fine but dies. Starts up again and is fine. Will hooking up to STAR be able to tell why? Started this a week ago. Car is sold if I can fix it. has 33300 miles on it, E350 gas engine. thanks

Checking fault codes never hurts, it might have recorded something helpful.

If you don't have a CEL, then you are in the "diagnosis by complaint zone"--we love em because they take loads of time to locate,that equals more bucks and sad faces for owners!!

However in your case---its either fuel or ignition---find someone who understands the system!!

You could do a Star quick test to determine the status of all the modules!!

I also noticed that the RPM's don't come up for a second or two after it starts, the tach stays at zero.
