Front Bumper Cover Replacement

Hi All, my wife recently dinger the passenger side ground effects part of her front bumper pretty bad. It didn't break but it dented on a corner about the size of a softball. It could maybe be fixed but i was at the dealership and asked them for a quote.

They came back at $2700 to replace and paint the bumper. They said the most expensive bit was the replacement bumper at $1600. After telling the guy I saw a replacement bumper online for $280 he said that they could probably paint it and put it on for me for about $600.

Seems like an okay idea but just curious what others think.

to me it looks like the bumper is still fixable , so to fix that and paint shouldnt be more than $400-450 max. (including labor and everything)
2700 is just crazy

I'd rather have a repaired OEM bumper than an aftermarket bumper. Any respectable body shop can do the repair and paint for a few hundred, you don't have to go to a dealer who just takes it to another shop and marks up their price to you. Most shops guarantee their own work as well.

2014 E550-sold 😩
I agree with the others and they should be able to pull this piece back out and use filler to get it close to original. I would not spend big money on a bumper replacement that will only last until the next concrete curb comes along. Did it pop that bumper/fender seam? The one just before the wheel well on a slant. That could be a problem if it did.

Heat it up with a hair dryer, or even better a heat gun, then reach in behind and pop it out. If it doesn't look so bad then have a good paint shop sand, and paint.
