Have two with keyless go and the batteries last about a year. Slightly less on the SLK as I use the key fob to activate the vario roof. As in many things battery quality makes a difference.
I was getting 3-6 months on key fob batteries with KEYLESS-GO. Dealer said keep key fobs away from each other. If kept close to each other they talk to each other and run down.
Here's a picture of the CR2032 in my 2013 key fob.
Unless they changed the 2014 key fob, I don't see why it won't fit.
I also tried the CR2032 in a 2011 C300 key fob, fit and worked fine as well.
My fob looks the same, is there a certain way I have to put it in. I insert the battery right side first, then try to put in the left side down and in but it will not clear the battery housing. I am using an energizer CR2032 battery.
I just insert the right side under the little ridge, then push gently on the left and it just clicks into place. to take out, I use a small flat blade screw driver and stick it in the opening on the top/bottom of the battery and gently twist and the battery pops out.

I just try to put the CR2023 in again, not even close to fitting in there. Just wonder, do you have keyless go? I am guessing the internal of the fobs are different.

Yes I have keyless go on the 2013 E350, but no keyless go on the parents 2011 C300
