Where is Fan Speed Setting Number 4?

Hi- can you guys play with your car's fan speed manual setting and report back?
Normally I leave mine on Auto and corresponding temperature.
I noticed I don't have a the fan speed setting numerical 4 in the display screen.

Yes, when I flip the tap up and down, the Indicator would show 5 levels of hash marks, with 1 (lowest) with one horizontal hash, then 2 hashes, 3 hashes, 4 and then 5 for max.

However the digital display in the upper display screen shows 1, 2, 3, then 5.

The sequence goes like this since there are 5 positions. If you're tabbing up, it goes, 1,1,2,3,5 on the screen. If you're tabbing down, it goes 5,3,3,2,1 on the screen.

What happened to my 4? did me fan regular lose a speed setting in the fan modulator?

Thanks

LOL - good one! especially since I AM ethnic Chinese. MB needs to make all five settings to only show the number 8 then! Need to get rid of the 4 in my E400!

Mystery solved.

When car is on aux battery mode/electric mode, the fan seems to only operation in 3 speed. Once Engine is kicked on, all 5 speeds show up.

The Mercedes sold in mainland China only has a one speed fan, speed # 8.
Come to think of it, why do Mercedes have a 7 speed transmission and a 9 speed transmission but not a 8 speed? Is the number 8 bad luck in Germany?

It'd be really nice if MB would document things like this. Even the dealerships don't seem to have this information.
