Hood release latch in car fell off
I'm looking to purchase a 2011 E-350 and when I went to open the hood, I noticed the red lever was detached from the lower dashboard and hanging down. Pulling the lever still worked and released the hood. I couldn't climb down there to take a good look at it bus has anyone had experience with this happening? The black plastic component that the red lever attaches to seemed intact and unbroken and I'm wondering if it just will pop back in.
The car is at a new car dealership, but not a Mercedes dealer.
Thanks

I have never heard of this happening before. I doubt you can just snap it back into place; if it was that easy it would have been done already. There is probably a couple of screws or bolts missing that hold the lever and it's surround into place.

Do you mean it is unhinged from the dash? Or that it is just hanging low like with less tension on the cable?
The fact that it still works is a good thing. At any rate, dealer should fix before any sale.

Cable tension is fine. It is unhinged from the dash and hanging down. If you hold the assembly and pull the lever the hood opens.
