It could be the injectors. I can hear them on my C32. Could also be a lifter, or even the emissions vacuum valve for the fuel system. Please state your engine type so we can help better.
Get an engine stethoscope for listening to the car for about $10 on eBay. Then touch the tip to everything that might be making that noise. Injectors, rockers covers, bearings for the belt pulleys, etc. You should be able to track down the area, if not the item.

2012+ use M276 6 cylinder engines with direct injection. There is a distinct diesel-like noise for those. The OP's 2011 uses I believe M272 which does not have direct injection, or the noise you thought was normal.
