Saw my 1st illuminated star on the road today

This evening on Route 17 north in Paramus, NJ. Never seen it "in the wild" before. Impression? Eh

I'm personally not a fan. It looks so gaudy. Too each his own I guess.

Love the illuminated star. Makes the car look classy. Would not own one without it. I personally do not like yellow gaudy fog lights below the headlights. Kind of makes the car Cheesy. But then to each there own.

I don't see other manufacturers copying this tacky thing EVER. Well maybe Kia.

Were I looking for a car, I would not pay extra for the illuminated star. But if I found the exact car I wanted and it had the illuminated star, I would not turn away from the car either. Not my cup of tea, but not a deal breaker. It's not like Audi's LED daytime running light design which really took off and has been used by many other manufacturers since.

I've seen a couple on the road - thought it was a subtle accent. Nothing major. Felt more sporty than classy.

Just installed mine last weekend, so far loving it. I could always turn it off if I ever felt like that.

The first time I saw it (on a CLA) I thought "Wow, he will probably double park in the front of the parking lot"

Not a fan. Seems overly pretentious, as if owning a MB didn't already put you in that category lol

I see it's a $550 option on the new E300.

Ugly and expensive.

That Mercedes three pointed star is already oversized, there is really no need to light it up to let people know you drive a Mercedes. What's next? The Mercedes logo will spin around with different color lights.

That's not the point! The facelift has led strip DRLs, which look modern. So, the LED star gives fresh look to prefacelifts, making it look modern.

I am sorry, but making your car look like a Christmas tree on wheels is not modern.

Not a fan either.

IMHO seems like something people buy at Autozone from the discount bin and wire into their cars.

That's what I thought too until I saw one in person.

I liked the lighted star in their commercial. I saw one live and liked it a lot. I added it to my car.

It is a unique feature...

As if the big *** grille star wasn't tacky enough, you needed to add a light to it?

What's next, gold chains with lights?

I guess the illuminated star is for people who like to draw attention to themselves. Hey, look, in case if you haven't notice, I drive a Mercedes.

I'm not sure it's any different then the led headlights meant to make the car different. Maybe we should all go back to round headlights of the 60's...

It's just a Mercedes... It's not that special of a car or different from other cars like Lexus, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, etc... They are all trying to find a way to stand out
