Unable to access Media Interface 2013 E550
I am unable to hook up my iPod touch in my E550 using either the MP3 or the USB cable in the console. I can however use bluetooth for both my iPhone 5S, and my iPod touch. When I try to select media interface on the Command Screen it is grayed out. Is it possible to check to see if the Media Interface has been turned off in the Command settings? On my 2014 E350 both the phone and iPod worked using the interface cable. My only other thought is that I have a bad cable, however my iPod does charge using the cable. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank You.

Dan, Thank You for the speedy response. I have been going into settings in audio and when I try to select media interface the command screen says no device connected I'm beginning to wonder if I do indeed have a bad cable, as I also tried to hook up my iPhone 5S with Media Interface cable.

I have tried using my old iPod touch with the 30 pin connector cable, and my iPhone 5S with an adapter as you suggested, and that too isn't recognized when plugged in. The same goes with the USB hookup next to the adapter cable in the console. Interestingly enough 2 days ago the command screen would show what was playing, and yesterday the command screen started displaying "streaming audio" in the BT mode.

Is it possible you're using an older iPod? I don't know how old /new, the iPod Touch is...
I use an older iPod Nano 4g with its old-school 30pin connector, but the Merc cable won't charge it while it plays. Therefore, I bought a Scosche adapter that allows for simultaneous charging and playing (it's a teeny little adapter along the same lines as Apple's lightning adapter pictured above).

I have a 30 pin to iightning adapter cable and my iPhone 5S wasn't detected using the media interface cable. It too also would charge when I hooked it up. I spoke to the dealer, and they agreed to send me a new cable. Thank you for the suggestion.

Interestingly enough today my iPhone 5S won't sync anymore. Have tried to have bluetooth sync using both the phone, and the Command system. My iPod Touch still is recognized.

The dealer sent me a new cable, and all is well in the world now, as my iPod is now recognized in the Media Interface. As far as my iPhone no longer being recognized, apparently when I downloaded a new version of IOS it bricked my bluetooth settings on the phone, so I had to reset the phone with bluetooth. Thanks for all the suggestions.
