I am so sorry for all of those issues. I am pretty new to the MB world, just bought a 2011 E350 wagon and i also had a vibration and shake in the steering wheel at certain speeds. So i brought it to a shop and they told me two rims were bent. Took the vehicle to a Rim specialist and he straightened not just two rims but all four!! the car drives so much better! I feel very very slight shake in the steering wheel but i think it may be the continental tires i have on maybe. either that or its bc of the new 2017 Audi S4 i drive. its like butter so maybe I've become spoiled. but non the less I hope you get the car to driving perfectly. I'm still learning here and as every car enthusiast, we pay attention to every little detail and motion of our " baby" lol

I'm still debating what to do. Shall I call the original guy and ask for a refund. I'm almost sure he will not give a refund but may offer to check it and repair (for free). Which means I should again trust this dude who is either a crook or an incompetent person (or both) with my car. I won't be able to see what he does in his closed garage while I wait in another waiting area. He doesn't permit anyone to be in the work area while work is gong on. I'm not sure what other curved ***** he may throw to keep me off the track since I don't know much about tires anyways and he is a self proclaimed expert on wheels.
The other option is to cut my losses and go for the new guy which the dealer suggested (and vouched for).
In retrospect I think I should have just got the insurance to pay for two new wheels as the MB dealer suggested (and I would have been only $500 down - which incidentally I am ending up paying now). .

Whatever you do, do not go back to that original guy. Get on Yelp and blast him for this complete BS. Start new and pay whatever you need for peace of mind and a straight driving car.

If you already paid for the repair, why not just bring it back to him. Maybe he ID that wheel and forgot to fix it, shiz happens. Whats the worst he can do to your rim, bent it some more?? I would start by calling him and see what he is willing to do for you and go from there.

He was very particular to be paid in cash. Also the receipt was scribbled in a piece of regular yellow paper (no logo or name). .
I called him. He says that he wants to check it over. Also adds that his repair is done inside where you cannot see. And that the people who looked at it don't know what they are talking about. Says it is finished by his machine and there won't be anything wrong (He obviously trusts his machine more than his skills). In addition there is positively no refund since the payment was for the work which has already been done.
I knew he was going to throw this curveball.
I can't argue much with him since I don't know anything what he is talking about.
Still debating whether to go to him at all or not.

If you buy a Mercedes you must become a car guy whether you want or not in the sense that you have to know more and always be smarter than your servicemen. I believe the same principle applies to building a house.
The reason is your "good enough" is usually higher than someone else standards.

Cash and no receipt? And you're debating using him again? Wow

Guys. I went with the new wheel repair guy. He demonstrated that there was a small bend and repaired it for me for $125 (and a proper receipt ). At least I don't feel the vibrations as bad as before, but I'll keep an open mind for now. Don't want to jinx it. Lol. For now this is as much I want to spend on the current problem and I hope it won't recur again. Thank you guys for all the help.

Whoa, I decided to check this site after a long time and found that you had revived this thread recently. After the new guy fixed it I was pretty satisfied with the vibration part. Honestly I’ve jumped into a few more potholes since then and many times wonder if the rims are bent again? I found that when I’m paranoid I may feel something but can’t put a finger on it, but I’m fine when I’m not thinking about it. May be I’ll ask them to check wheels during my next service. But I’m okay with the result at present. Hope that helps.

Im thinking its time to go get my wheels straitened , got new tires did alignment , and yet still get a slight vibration at high speeds.

You asked a question. I was only hoping that the follow up helped to answer your question. Regardless, thanks for your interest. .

I just solved my problem after having my main mechanic and my tire guy both take a look at everything with a vibration that felt like it was coming from the front. Was real frustrating and felt the vibration at pretty much any speed. After doing a wheel balancing and an alignment not doing the trick, we replaced the drivers side front wheel bearings. My 2008 e350 wagon had about 107k smooth driving miles on it. Took it to my local mb shop and they identified that all 4 wheels were bent and the tires had a very odd wear pattern (probably from the car needing an alignment previously). Let me say, after fixing the rims and replacing the tires, the wagon is now driving like it did when it was new. Sorry it took me 2 months to take it to MB but these forums helped ID the problem for me and MB confirmed it.

My latest purchase come with AMG 18" wheels (made in Czech Republic) and all of them had damages, even I spoke with original owner and this is 2nd set of wheels on the car.
When I know low-profile wheels are prone to damages, my wheels had several cracks with no bends, what made me suspicious about the material quality.
So having old monoblocks sitting in storage, I put the classics to work and found nice use for original low-profile AMG rims.
