Well, who would've guessed it, today en route to work I pushed the brake pedal as hard as I could in a red light and sweet baby jesus, the HOLD symbol after all popped up without the ECO being green. I still remember specifically pushing the brake pedal really hard after the discussion started here with no luck. I just couldn't get it work with the yellow ECO sign. Guess I was wrong...

Apologize for all the fuss over such a stupid thing here, hah.
