W212 wheel alignment

Hi guys,

ive had a browse through the sticky thread at bulletin's and so far unable to find an answer to my questions.

I recently bought a beautiful W212 2012MY E220 CDI. So far I've owned it 3 weeks and other than my issue I'm very pleased with it.

Im having wheel alignment issues and it's driving me crazy. I've had it to a reputable Mercedes specialist locally. It was my first visit and they have an excellent reputation. The issue I'm having is that the steering wheel isn't perfectly straight and it doesn't centre itself very well when coming off a corner. I have to constantly correct it, if I hold the wheel straight it drifts to the right under acceleration. It's almost like flying an aircraft, I have to compensate by turning the steering wheel to the left slightly and then centre the wheel to correct it. I'm aware of road camber etc and have tried this on a flat car park with the same results. Its frustrating as it really lets the car down. There is no accident damage recorded against the car and according to the specialist there is no evidence of any accident damage, they carried out a wheel alignment and said that they clamped the steering wheel straight and did the alignment but when driving down the road it was around 50 degrees out. They "fixed" this by clamping the steering wheel off centre the other way and then did the alignment. Something is definitely not right here. I thought I'd get some opinions before I go into the dealer tomorrow

WELCOME!!

they should be able to center the steering wheel without any issues , if they cant id go to a different shop.

as far as pulling , to start id check front suspension components , bushings in particular (i would assume whoever did the alignment also checked for this) and then move on to more serious things.....

..... BUT im saying that with assumption that your wheels and tires been checked for imperfections/cracks/uneven thread /etc

Thanks for the responses guys, it's greatly appreciated. Il have a drive to Mercedes tomorrow and have a chat to them.

One other minor issue while I remember, I have an iPhone 6 which seems to be incompatible with the audio system and currently having to use an aux cable. Is it possible to have this updated to allow me to use my phone?

you need a software update by dealer.
usually its around 200 bucks , unless u go there often and have a good relationship with them , they can do it for free
