Review - Folding Table Accessory

Too long and don't want to read? They do NOT work for me but depending on your circumstances, they might work for you. Certainly not good for a permanent installation.

This doesn't necessarily belong in this forum because they fit in almost every model but didn't see anywhere where there was a general accessory forum.

Here's the review for this product: Folding Table The cost for the Base Module & the Folding Table should be around $250 each.

Every other week for a couple days, I do the Uber/Lyft thing here in Atlanta. I was interested in the Mercedes folding table because I do have the occasional passenger who is doing work and taking notes while on the phone and I was hoping for a usable table where they could write on or maybe set an iPad on along with a beverage. I was also hoping to bump up the "wow" factor with having usable tables for the rear seat passengers.

I purchased 2 tables with the base module. They're easy to install and they don't take up too much room. You simply attach the base module to the headrest posts. Then slide the attachment post into the base module. Theres a bracket that needs to be slid down a little, open the table and hold it in a level position, reach under the table and feel for the bracket that you previously slightly extended and then finish extending it to the back of the seat. It didn't take me long to figure out how to use them and if you know what you're doing, you can set the table up in just a couple of seconds. Once set up, they are quite steady. They're not too big but are large enough to fit a small tablet on or maybe a very small laptop. They would definitely be useful for eating in the back seat.

That said, they're not the easiest thing to figure out. Most of my passengers couldn't have cared any less that they were there. I did have a businessman and businesswoman who were very impressed by the idea of them. They didn't need to use them during the trip but opened them up to play with them. I had to show them how exactly to set them up and after some fumbling around, they kind of set up but the table was at an angle instead of being flat.

I had another passenger who had a drink and I said they he could use the center console of the table. He chose the table and after some explaining and fumbling around, he decided it was too complicated and put the table back up.

The biggest disappoint (and the main reason they're going back to the dealer) is that they rattle and squeak. One of the things I loved about moving up to a Mercedes was how solid the vehicle was. I haven't had any squeaks or rattles until I installed these. The downtown Atlanta streets are anything but smooth and I was getting really annoyed and somewhat embarrassed by how much noise these things made.

If you have a family and make road trips where you eat in the car, these might be worth the money to you. You could remove them and only install them when needed.
