ASSYST Plus question and service intervals

Disclaimer: I am a pretty damn good mechanic and I plan on doing all of my own service on my '14 E350. I have bought a copy of the WIS and I want to see if it will work for me at home the way it does at the dealer.

When I go into MSS it asks me for a workshop number and mileage, and miles remaining, etc.

My car has 35,000 miles on it. However, when I go into the ASSYST screen it tells me I have 9400 miles remaining until next B service and does not give me the workshop number like the MSS is looking for.

So does the car do that thing where it "analyzes" driving habits and extends service intervals based on driving conditions? Does this mean my 40,000 mile B-service will actually be due at about 44,400 miles? Splitting hairs, I know, but bear with me.

When I reach a service due marker (as judged by the car, one way or another) does it then give me the workshop number the MSS is looking for to determine what services are due? Does it wait until the actual mileage is reached, or will it start talking to me at xxx miles before reaching service interval?

40k is a big service and I want to start collecting up parts now, just want to be able to plan ahead.

Thanks,
Darel

I don't know for sure, but I think the "schedule" just puts you at 10k miles from the time you reset the counter, or 1 year, whichever comes first. But in the past few years of owning my MB, I've only even seen it alert me based on mileage, not time. That being said, it should remind you within 1200 miles, and again around 800 miles every time it starts up until you reset it. So to answer your other question, your 40,000 mile B service should be "due" at 40,000 miles, or 10,000 miles since the computer was reset. Not sure about how to get the workshop number, but maybe it'll be in the engineering menu... 'End call' on dash (not steering wheel) + '1' on keypad + '#' on keypad (I think)... hold those all together for a few seconds.

I'm not sure how to get the workshop number either but I will add an item from my experience with Assyst Plus messaging. It has always had a count down by miles for me as well except one time recently when my car was in the shop for a month. I guess since the car sat for a month straight it then calculated by days. The system must've then assumed that based on the mileage I had recently driven/not driven that it would take me over 1 year to hit the 10,000 mile mark. It said something in ball park of 220 days until next service A1.

After a couple of weeks it's now back to miles to go before next service.
