Smart key problem
So yesterday I had an issue turning the car on. First i noticed that the doors didn't unlock right away. So first thing I did was go and buy a new battery for my key. Did that. Still having the same issues.
Here's what happens
I have to press the unlock or lock button several times or hold down until it actually locks/unlocks
Then whole inside the car. I put the key in and turn it. But it acts like there is no key present at all until I play with the remote a bit or press down on the remote. Then it lights up the dash as normal. I have to keep messing with it until the car turns on.
I haven't hooked up a scanner or anything yet. Has anyone got any insight to this issue ????

Do you have a second key? Does it act the same?

Unfortunately I don't. I do have another key that is not for this car. I tried it just to see how fast the response is. And it said something like they key isn't recognized.

If it scanned the other key and sent a "do not recognize" without you having to fumble with it, then I would suspect you have a bad key.
Only a dealer can order you a key and they are not inexpensive. There are no Ebay blanks, etc that can be programmed. It needs to come from the dealer.

But if it is still under warranty, you may be able to get them to give you another/a working key as a warranty claim.

Sounds like what happens when I have my key in the same pocket as my phone. Did you check the battery with a multimeter or other tester? Don't assume it has the proper voltage.
Keep us posted.

If the battery is at least 3v on the meter, you can also check the contacts in the key itself and bend them to provide better contact in case that's the issue.

It sounds crazy (I still don't believe it 100%), but my SA told me to only use Panasonic Batteries. I told him I bought the expensive Energizers and Duracells, so why were they "dying" so quickly? I stocked up on Panasonic's from Amazon.

atleast you could've asked us on or before may 30th. We have a 100$ off of 200$ or more coupon for servicing. But, if you talk to the SAs nicely, they might consider it as a discount for the 2nd key.

I didn't read all the comments above, so, if you don't have keyless go, the cost is less than 300$ I believe, else 385$ or less than 450 for the other.

I believe so, because before buying my current one, I looked at other vehicles and it was missing a key. When I asked the dealer for a quote for the replacement and he mentioned that price. I assume everything is included.
Also, first have them tested, may be it is a normal fix..!

I believe some are CR2025 and some are CR2023, etc. I would verify you installed not only a certain brand, but a certain model/type.
That could possibly have something to do with it.
