Navigation Update

For those who have performed the Nav update, I couldn't tell from the prior posts whether there are any changes to the interface beyond more current maps. In other words, does anything look different (i.e., better) after the update? I am guessing that the interface does not change with the update but am curious to hear.

I am curious, for anyone that has upgraded, does it now show the speed limits along your route?
I know the new Distronic systems can actually read the speed limit signs.
To my knowledge, the older (2014 factory maps) nav versions didnt show that data, built in?

I recently purchased a CPO '14 E350 4Matic also with the '14 programming. Within a week of purchase I requested that the dealer update the programming to the most recent version. They looked at me as if I was nuts and said that no update was necessary. What "valid" reason can I give that will "force" them to update as part of extended warranty program

COMAND or NAV.
NAV, you don't need to force them, pick a brand new road, which was constructed less than an year ago and tell them, it is not showing up in the maps and that is part of you weekly route.
COMAND upgrade, simply say, sometimes the mercedes logo stays on the start of the screen and freezes.
Either you need to restart the radio(hold the power button for 10 seconds) or restart the car, which is a pain, sometimes.
They'll upgrade the COMAND f/w.

OK....just installed the Navigation Update Command 2017. Took longer than normal...over 2 hours but all seems well. I am NOT a fan of MB navigation update program but find that once loaded it is convenient to use in the car.
Note that I did NOT have to enter an activation key or password to load so it looks like it can be used in another E Class (MY 10-11). PM me if you have an interest in the update.

navigation update
Discs are for E Class MY 10-11. I believe updates after that require activation code /License key or password. So I don't think they would work for you.

It's COMMAND upgrade. IMHO there are changes to the code from v14 to v17 and the geek in me wants it.

Yup, you've got to present an 'issue' that only the comand upgrade can solve. You could also say you are getting bluetooth connection drops on a regular basis. Bonus points if you know what was fixed with each firmware update as they would like find the firmware update as a fix to the problem if they look it up. Not sure where to get that information though.
BTW, they rejected me twice, about bluetooth streaming skipping problem.
we were unable to duplicate the skipping with any of our phones.
They used
Two android phones and one iPhone.
I even showed him the video.
I have a dashcam and will update videos as many as possible.
They say the firmware is up to date and can't help me anymore.

I've a 2011 E550 Cab - looking for a map update it's still running the original version - wondering if you know what the latest version this system can accept and where is the best source... are you downloading via DVD or SD card / USB etc... so I know what I'm looking for - I can't imagine that my only option is the $ 399 the local dealer wants for the update...

Yeah if you have NTG 4.0 then you can buy that DVD to update it yourself. The NTG4 has the larger PCMCIA card slot below the ON button. The NTG4.5 has the smaller SD card slot below the ON button (but off centered to the left).
