Valve unit (a9/1y1) is part 2123200658, see attachment. No bumper should not have to be removed, see attachment + view compressor attachment in post 9.

soooo... part was supposed to be in today but of coarse not til thurs. I'm leaving to drive to NC from CT on thurs. So prob 1000 miles round trip.

I'm guessing it's ok but what do you guys think? I'm not worried about it being low in the a.m. but while I'm driving it would suck if it slammed out.

I'm sure it will be fine while driving. Sounds like this is a pretty slow leak from that unit when it sits and I doubt you will drop while driving and the system is active. At least now you know what the diagnosis is. Maybe the part will arrive Wednesday afternoon. Most of the stuff I order these days arrives earlier than the original tracking shows. If that is the case, take the part with you. Best of luck and a great trip!

From my Rover experiences I'd say your compressor can keep up with intermittent adjustments to keep her level...given the leak is probably small since it only happens when parked overnight...I'd roll with it. You'll just keep having longer-term parking issues on the trip, but during travel I'd say you're good to go.

I too think that its not that critical , you will be just fine. It wont drop the air fast enough , and compressor will be able to keep up with out problems

Thanks for the reassurance guys. At least it will look sick bagged down in the a.m. ultimately I would like control of the air ride just to dump when parked. Looks so mean.

It looks like the only tool you will need for this job is a 10mm wrench.

Hi Konigstiger, can you please share these PDFs also for X218 (CLS63 SB)? If more convenient, we can create a separate thread in W218 section. Thank you!

Installed

Well I got the airmatic valve block installed. Straight forward.

-I jacked the rear off the ground.
- Left the front on the ground with wheel chalks. --- -Disconnected the battery.
-loosened the lower air lines on unit and let the air run out for about 10 min.
-Then removed all the lines.
-Removed the fittings and ferrals from lines.
-Installed new unit using old bracket to body since studs and nuts where a little rusty
-pushed in all new lines. Pull to make sure they are all seated. I had one line that would not seat. So I removed the fitting and ferral from unit. Slid fitting and ferral on unit then screwed it in.
-hooked up battery
-started car
-let it runs for 5 min. Then shut off.
still said vehicle rising please wait.
started it again and it filled up the rest of the way.

It didn't make it's usual blow off noise when I **** it off or while sitting . Hoping this was my issue of lowering all way in rear overnight.

Slammed
Tools I used
Slammed.

The car still slammed in the rear overnight! Wtf.

to re cap it didn't do this when I bought it 3 months ago. It would after like 4 days.

Is there a chance this is something electrical with the system forcing itself into Park Mode way faster then it should? It seems like you've replaced or have ruled out most of the options.

Is it worse now after replacing the part? Double check all of your connections with soap.

unfortunately, I've had the same outcome, i replaces the valve block but it didn't change anything. Just picked up my E from the dealer, it took them 4 days but they finally found that one of the front struts malfunctioning.

^^^^Well I already had at the dealer. They found nothing wrong in system . Said replace valve block

^^^^the front of the car stays where it should
.
Same as before. The rear pass sags all the way down though and the rear driver is still up 1.5" or so. I noticed pass sagged faster before also.

I sprayed all the fittings on the valve block. No bubbles. I did that right off the bat. Just to be sure

So I'm back at square one.

I'm going to start car to tonight, let it fill all the way up. Then disconnect the battery and see where it's at in the morning.

I can hear that valve making noise still hours after it being shut off and locked. Not air but electronic noises.

Seems like some is telling the car to lower when it's in sleep mode.

I've tried parking on different inclines overnight. Makes no difference.

if I drove the car then shut it off and lock it, when I unlock it that valve makes noise and blows off air. Not every time but often

just throwing random info out there

it's not worse. Sags little slower on rear driver. Pass sags quicker. I checked the fittings as soon as I finished. I'll double check though.

Really sorry, man. I can't remember, and don't want to rehash things but the rear air springs had already been replaced? They are new? I had a rear strut(not air spring) go bad on my '04 E500 and my air spring could not do the work of holding up the rear and it dropped on one side. I replaced ONLY the strut and all was good again. The Airmatic system was fine, but the strut had failed.

I just put new Arnott rear bags in. They where installed when I brought it to the dealer too.

just started it up and noticed pass side front and rear are noticeably lower. Measured 3/4" difference pass. To driver side. on sport and comfort settings.

They have always measured the same.

I am a home builder by trade and wrencher on my spare time. Ha. This is though my first mercedes. Like learning all over again. I had an X5 that had airbag issues. Was much easier to diagnose. I feel like I'm going crazy with this issue.

Anymore suggestions?

It stills slams in the rear. Always pass side lower than the driver. It is also lower in the front pass but not slammed.

Seems all over the place. Although symptoms are consistant.

So after replacing the valve block the only difference is it slams lower on the passenger side.

Is it possible to have a bad height sensor without throwing a code?

Thanks in advance
