2011 e350 bluetec

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and German cars in general. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this 2011 e350 bluetec. It would be my first mercedes as well as my first diesel. It seems to have been regularly serviced per the carfax, so really the only thing that I'm unsure of would be the high miles. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd stay away from the older Diesel vehicles as even Mercedes is recalling their Diesel vehicles over allegations of cheating on Diesel emissions.

I've a 2013 E350 BT and it has been a great vehicle over the past 4 + years with great fuel economy but the days of Diesel vehicles are numbered with the Diesel emission cheating scandal started by VW and now Mercedes, Chrysler, Audi and Porsche.

VW has just bought back my 2011 Jetta TDI!

With the scandal spreading over to M-B, the demand and resale value of any Diesel vehicles will be greatly affected.
However, I'll just drive my E350BT till the wheels fall off as it's a great vehicle.

Yeah I've never been a fan of the diesels because if you read the W211 forum, there were all sorts of weird engine problems that diesel owners had and had trouble fixing them because few mechanics knew anything about it besides the dealer. As for the W212, it's hard to say, I think they might be better, but that could be because fewer have been made or because it's so rare for those owners to be posting here.

Diesels are great. make sure you get all the deatils on the car first. I have one, and they are not doing a mechanical recall like VW. Make sure it had its Oil cooler seal replacement or you will have a 4k repair bill around 60k.

They just have to update the software IN Europe. not even in usa. their laws are more strict in europe, and they basically just turn off the adblue system more often than they should. simple flash and it runs it more and done.

that particular one has too many miles for the cost. around 20-22k you shuld get around 50k miles instaed of 80+. keep shopping

Thanks for your replies! So this one may not be a winner? After searching through the forum the oil cooler problem has been discussed at length, but I wasn't really able to find anything about whether the seal replacement actually solves the problem. Is this something one would continually have to deal with, or once you get the upgraded seals are you good to go?

I have this exact car, with 113,000 miles on mine. (well, mine is luxury, not sport, and leather, not MB-Tex).

Mine has been flawless and leak free. I am planning to run it to 200K miles +.

Have a good independent mechanic check the oil cooler for "the leak." Mine has not had a leak ever.

In six years I've done brakes and tires, and had one issue where the ad-blue heater went, and that was an expensive repair because the part is M-B proprietary.

Aside from that, it's been an awesome vehicle, especially if you put on high miles on the highway. This car loves to have the cruise control set at 72 and go all day. You'll get amazing mileage and comfort!
