Replacing center console wood trim inserts with metal facelift trim inserts?

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2012 e550 4matic with 1 year CPO warranty and parts of the center console are faded. When I asked my service advisor if they could be replaced under warranty, he told me that they weren't covered under the CPO warranty, only the factory warranty which has already expired. After browsing around the dealer I noticed that in the new facelift models use a metal finish instead of wood one on parts on the center console so I was wondering if they can be retrofitted onto the prefacelift models.

Has anyone else replaced their center console trim with the metal facelift version, and if so how much would it cost?

Check eBay, those wood trim pieces show up there. The center pieces are relatively easy to do, there's a youtube video that shows you how to replace the comand knob and that involves taking the trim off.

Man that sucks im so sorry! i had this done under factory warranty and it wouldve been close to 4k otherwise. The entire cars trim pieces are from one tree, so its stupid expensive and often backordered.

Replacing just certain pieces with metal will look silly, and you might run into issues with the stuff near the spinner wheel and what not to remove/replace that.

You might be better off lookign for just the pieces that are faded in burl and replace those and hope the grain is similar enough

not that the alum looks bad or anything, but mixed together would be odd and doing the entire cars trim would be massive labor

I have an extra piece of the wood trim for the left side of the console. In good shape. Please PM me if you're interested. New, these side trim pieces are about $50 each.

I have some extra pieces left over from a project I am doing. They are both in superb condition. I'll beat any price you find on ebay. PM me for details.

I'm 99.9% sure the silver side trims will fit. I'm about to order them online. $66.00 shipped for both sides.

Silver console trim - left 2014 2126906962
Silver console trim - right 2014 2126907062

The 2014-2016 also have silver trim on the lower door where we have wood. They are about $75 each, but maybe later. Also 99.9% sure they will fit. I saw a thread where one guy wanted to replace the silver with burl wood, but our communications dropped off.
