OT: SLK350?
Hey all,
I'm going to be helping a buddy look at a 2012 SLK 350 (w/AMG pkg) and I got zero feedback from that sub-forum! So I am hoping that some of you here may be able to shed some light.
Help give me a pulse on this model, would ya? I've done some net reading, but your collective expertise would be a great help!
1. Is this the same engine that's in our w212 E350?
2. Any maintenance bugaboos or "watch out for" about this car?
3. General reliability (as in is this as reliable as the E350s from 2010-16?)
4. Anything you can think of that would help me look for would be much appreciated! Thanks bunch!!

Should be the same engine as I believe all 2012+ mercedes received the new M276 as a replacement for the M272.
Reliability? Well, it's not really old enough to start having hydraulic leaks from the top, but those become a ***** once it gets to 10-12+ years old.
That's about all I know.

Thanks or the reply! I'll pass on the info about the top ...which if a complex piece of engineering that gives me the *******, personally. But it is a real looker! Hopefully it will all pan out for my friend!

Looks like a sweet little ride, car and driver sure liked it. Same engine, probably same tranny but has more in terms of electronic controls on steering and suspension. Staggered wheels.

2012 E350 sedan
It's not a true sports car but a nice cruiser
Any convertible hardtop is lugging a lot of extra weight and that hard top takes up almost all of the trunk space (check it out with the top down. It's not a good car for long trips with the top down because the luggage space is tiny. The best roadsters have soft tops. Handling, etc is near the bottom of its class compared to Porsche, Audi TT, BMW Z4 etc but it is a nice top-down cruiser around town.

My friend bought it. Nice car, very well cared for, and drove silky smooth with a bit more "aggressive" flair than my wife's E350. It sounds as if they engineered more "growl" in the exhaust to offer that illusion you're in a sports car. Tiny interior and trunk, to be sure ,,,and I come from the old 911s ...this car is small inside! But it's my buddy's fun-but-commutable-with-comfort car, so he's thrilled!
