Auxillary Battery Replacement
After 7 years and 50,000 miles I got the AUXILLARY BATTERY MALFUNCTION message in my 2010 E350.
This problem and repair is well documented here on this forum

The replacement was pretty straight forward and took less than 1 hour. The next time I have to do this I bet I can do it in 1/2 an hour.
The only thing I can add to the discussion is Which battery to use as a replacement. I was lucky and got a NEW OEM battery from eBay for $17 delivered. This part goes for anywhere from $60.00 to $150.00 depending where you buy it from.
There are after market batteries available (links to these batteries can be found in the links above).
Coincidentally my dad's 2012 E350 got the same message after 5 years and 36,000 miles. I could not find the same deal as I got with my battery. So I went with the battery advertised as a direct replacement for this MBZ part from NewEgg (no affiliation). The part shipped is $13
I'll report back with my findings as soon as I receive and install the battery.
