Vanity light spring broke in sunvisor
2011 E350 20k miles
Driver side vanity mirror flap lost spring tension. Removed it and on each side are two metal tension springs that are cracked. They aren't really springs at all, just thin metal strips bent over in a C shape. They insert near the hinges and put tension on them. The tension holds the mirror door open and shut.
The design is poor as the "springs" have 4 spots punched out to assist in locking them in when installed. The crack is right at these on both of them.
Anyone have this happen? I searched and was surprised I didn't get multiple hits. I probably will have to get new OEM for $50-$75 because I don't trust a used one not breaking again.
