Question 2015 E-Class owners birthday, help

Hello MB World thanks for the add.

My dad has just gone out and purchased himself a new to him 2015 Mercedes E-Class Diesel 2.2L engine and he is loving it. It's his Retirement birthday of 66 years of age coming up in 3 weeks, I was wanting to get him something special and now he has his Mercedes I thought I would come here and try to find something related to his car. I have already done a quick search on this site I always use http://www.used.forsale/ but I don't seem to be finding anything maybe you guys will see something I don't.

Every weekend my father is out polishing his E-Class to perfection and then spends as much time as possible out and about driving around so I was thinking maybe some top of the range cleaning products but I don't know where to look or what brand is deemed as the best, do you guys have any information on cleaning products that you use? And the other thing is, merchandise, do you guys have any good ideas in terms of Mercedes Merchandise? is there a website you know of that you could share with me? I have a budget of around £700-1000 if it's needed. Also if there is anything else that you guys think would be a great birthday gift please leave a comment below it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If he enjoys detailing his car that much, I would find a company that provides "professional" car detailing courses and would pay his tuition for a two or three day course. If it's set up by a reputable company, he'll have a blast and learn a lot on how to properly "polish" and seal his paint, clean his wheels, interior, seats etc. I once took a class in paintless dent repair for fun and it was a memorable and fun experience! I don't know prices in the UK, but in the U.S. a high end detailing course can run $800 to $1500 for a two day course.

That's a great idea.

Another option is to have his car detailed (have a high-end coating applied). That way he wouldn't have to work on it so much and he could enjoy driving it instead. I "get it" that he likes detailing it, but still ... wouldn't he rather drive it?

Is it his birthday or retirement, I am confused.
Nevertheless: try Mother's or Meguiar's or Leatherique; or you can try Griot's Garage...they are high end automotive detailing and aftermarket specialists.

Good for him!

I agree, Meguiar's and Griot's are great. Griot's has a monthly catalog you can sign him up for. And they have a lot of detailing & washing kits: https://www.griotsgarage.com/categor...detail+kits.do

I prefer Lexol for interior care / leather treatments.

I also took a class once for fun...it was a Meguiar's class on surface care. We color sanded scratches out of Vettes, cleaned, polished, waxed, etc. They teach you what equipment, pads, and products to use. The wrong buffing/cutting/polishing techniques can quickly ruin a car's paint. I believe it was $100 but we received $100 in merchandise so it was a wash.

If you're in a colder climate, I'd spring to have a plumber install a warm water system for your dad's washing comfort! Nothing worse than washing your car with ice cold water.

If he's washing and detailing his ride for fun and entertainment, I'd also think about a roller chair for doing the wheels & tires:
