New to me E550 Face Lift

Hello MB World,
I just got my hands on a 14 E550 Aka ESS0. Distronic, Airmatic, Park Assist, Mocha black with Chestnut interior. She has 45k on the clock but feels and looks new. My biggest question is should i buy a 3rd party warranty? I cannot find one that covers the air shocks. All of the ones i have been quoted cover everything else, come out to close to 4.5k is it worth it? i plan on getting to about 85k-90k within the next 4 years. That said i did have an 83 300sd 194k sold (not a comparison) and still have an 88 560sl 110k. I did the chains guides suspension and other miscellaneous serviceable items on both. However this is a completely different beast. Please let me know what you think..

Awesome find and wonderful car. Is there any factory warranty left on it(I missed that part)? I learned Factory Extended Limited Warranty (MB ELW) is the best one.

Thank you, no the car is not a cpo so im on my own. I spoke to MB, they told me that CPO does not cover the shocks either.

If MB original factory warranty can't cover, I wonder ELW wouldn't cover either. I heard, my E350's shocks are not covered either.
However, even your vehicle is not CPO, as long as it is less than 4 years or under 50k miles from the date of vehicle delivery date, you can buy ELW.
look for threads here about ELWs. couple (Jeff jackson and another is Tafel motors I believe) of them will give you good prices, with no deductible and free loaner vehicle (depending on the dealer and availability)..!

Good luck.

sorry you missed the chance, but that's comforting to hear about the reliability of W212s.

You must have an early 2014 model to be just out of warranty. My car was just 400 miles over the 50k and the dealer finance guy call MB (corporate I guess) and got them to approve the ELW purchase for my VIN. I would try again. MB ELW is the best coverage by far. For $5k, I would self insure.

Are you sure you have airmatic? I think it was an option by 2014, I suppose you have the buttons to adjust it up and down you have it. I think they might be more reliable than the ones in the W211 because there hasn't been too many reports of them failing, but that might be because they're in fewer cars now and they are newer so people haven't hit the mileage where they fail. In the older models, they failed in the 80-120k range but others have gone 150k+ before they failed. For 5k you might want to self insure. I have over 100k on my E350 and have no warranty on it. Nothing super major on it so far.

If I could get better pics inside and out, I'd be in a better position to respond to your warranty question.

Congrats on your loaded-up M278 Q-ship! The FL interior is outstanding.

Grats on the new ride man, these things are pretty solid. for $4-5k 3rd party warranty, I would probably skip on it..

I would suggest that you get a Data Card for your new ride. There are stickies here where you can obtain one. It will confirm that you have AirMatic. That said, if a 3rd party warranty is your only option, then try your local credit union. BTW Congrats!

Is the data card diffrent than the info obtained from the Russian site. As far as air ride goes I am 100% since that and the distronic were a must for me. I wanted a white one but settled on the mocha black since for 1 reasons or another most people didn't option out both. I also wanted the door sunshades, saw that on one of the cars I looked at and have not seen it since

If you don't mind posting your VIN we can tell you what you have. On your center console, to the right if your scrolling knob, you should have a button with a picture of a car with an up arrow on it. That means you have airmatic, otherwise that button is blank.
For distronic, look at your front center grille, if the star is a flat piece of glass, you have distronic, otherwise it should be a regular star.

I do not feel comfortable posting my vin i did get the info of the vin sight though. Just to alleviate some confusion i have the pics below notice solid star for distronic and buttons for the air ride.

Thank you MR RAD.
What type of pictures do you need? What options did you have in mind?

i just wanted to see pics of your good looking new car! Great looking wood trim.

My 2012 pre-face lift has been incredibly reliable (knock in wood!) and I suspect yours will, too.
