Temperature Guage
Hi everyone. I just purchased a 2011 E350. I just noticed that the temp gauge is all the way up to the 120c mark. Is this normal is the question. A few other things I noticed is that it kinda twitches and back and forth and then goes up. I am not getting any warning on the dash or anything tho. When I turn the car off the fan runs for about 2-3 minutes afterwards, Is all of this normal and if not what could be the problem so I can try and get the deler to take care of it since I just got it yesterday. Thanks in advance!!

Not normal as most of the engines are design to work in 80-85C range.
Did you check coolant level?

You don't consider needle in red zone a warning?
Get infra-red thermometer and first confirm it is hot engine, not faulty sensor .

2014 E550-sold 😩
Yeah, you need to get on this right away. Usually, when a t-stat fails on these cars it will default to full open and you will get a CEL. The temp will then be BELOW the normal range.

Update!!! Just got back from an indie shop and it was showing a code of P0485. They said it has something to do with the fan. It was late when I took it to them so I have to go back in the morning to have the actual repairs done. Other than that fault code he said it looked good and that I made a good buy. So I will update u guys tomorrow and thanks for the help.
