I don't use the system, but if I recall you do have to mute it each time. Perhaps there is a setting deep in there but I don't recall seeing it.

You can vary the volume of the nav prompts by using the volume knob when there is an active prompt speaking. So if the radio is playing, then you only change that volume, but when its speaking at you, then you can lower it down and it will stay at that volume. I dont know if there is a way to mute it all together but maybe set it so low you dont hear it. HTH.

Maybe just use your phone map apps and avoid it all together. Other than adjusting the volume to its lowest setting, I don't believe there is a way to permanently mute the prompts.

Add it to the list of other nav fails for MB.

Easiest way I found it hit the speak key and say "guidance instructions off"Originally Posted by al300sd

I think this does the same as if you press the mute button while it speaks. Guidance comes back at re-start.Originally Posted by wivenhoe

But there is almost perfect way to mute it, almost.
Go to NAVI settings and uncheck the Audio Fadeout, then when the instructions speak turn the volume all the way down. This sets the volume to almost mute and it does not lower the radio volume. If radio is loud enough it is hard to hear any of the instructions. And this stays for the re-start too, at least in my car it does.

Thanks---I was looking for a way to do this, without having to mute it every you start the car. In the Bimmer, getting rid of navi audio stays that way forever until you re-enable it. I'll have to try your "trick" in the Benz.Originally Posted by Arrie
