Brand new here and have no idea what the “W” #s mean. I am thinking of buying a CPO 2015 E 400. Does anyone know if they come with distronic plus? Also, any guidance or advice is very welcome. Thanks!

 

The W### refers to the Chassis number / model code. So our E class sedans from 2009 - 2016 are W212s ...

 

1994 and Newer vehicles:

A – Convertible
AE – Anniversary Edition
AMG - AMG model
AT – Automatic transmission
C – Coupe
CDI – Diesel injected
CR – Coupe roadster
DT – Turbo Diesel
D- Diesel
GD- Guard Version (Armored)
K – Kompressor (super charged)
ML- Supercharged engine (comes from "Mechanischer Lader" -German for supercharger)
MT – Manual transmission
S – Station wagon
SA – silver arrow
SE- Special Edition
V- Long wheelbase sedan
W- Sedan (or standard wheelbase, sometimes ref. as short wheelbase)
WZ or Z - Sport
4M or -4 - 4 matic equipped
R – Roadster (Conv)

1993 and earlier:

S- S class (supreme or top of line model)
SL – Coupe / Roadster version (2 seater) originally stood for “super light”
SLC – earlier version of the SEC -2 door coupe
SE – S Class Gasoline Fuel Injected (usually standard wheelbase)
SEL – S Class Gasoline Fuel Injected (long wheelbase)
SEC – S Class Coupe (Gasoline Fuel Injected)
SD – S Class Diesel

The Following are for the letters BEFORE the numeric number 1994 and newer:

CLK - Coupe Light Short
SLK - Sporty Light Short
CL - Coupe Long
S - Supreme
E - Executive class
SL - Sport Light
C - Compact
G- Gelaende (German, means " Large or expansive outside terrain")
ML- no meaning
R - no meaning
GL - no meaning

Distronic plus was an option. My 2014 model has distronic but not plus.
