Anyone with the new version of this unit having trouble with only mono sound coming out of the unit? For me, when connected using the AUX input, both channels are mixed together into all speaker mono, meaning both left and right channels are coming out of all speakers at the same time. It makes listening to music sound like total crap. I really don't want to to use bluetooth as it also degrades quality significantly.
I used to have the old Android 5.0 unit, and while it was dog slow the sound quality was amazing. I upgraded today to the new unit, with all new wiring harness, and I'm just baffled as to why this new unit is putting out mono sound.

They have a VERY hard time to understand me...When I explain this to them. But have you tried the settings and reset the sound settings?
Go to apps/settings/Sound Equlizer and try there as a start..
thanks for the tip. It seems like the unit itself does separate out left and right channel, but my car is still getting all-channel mono. When I turn the equalizer to the left I get left channel out of all car speakers, right side is same.
I tried different MMI adapter, same thing. I'm guessing that the aux cable is bad. But I will now try a continuity test with my multimeter so see if the left and right aux cable wires are crossed. I really hope it's the cable and not a crappy soldering job on the unit.
I'll let you know.
EDIT: just checked with Ohm meter and yes, left and right channels are connected together, I am getting slight resistance instead of open circuit. I will now check at the plug on the back of the unit, and if I'm still getting closed circuit then I know it's the cable/plug, which I can replace.
I plan on buying this for myself soon but saw lots of issues with it. Has most of the issues been resolved?
Depends a bit on what you want out of it. Its not a tablet. Its a screen with apps. I actually think it does even more than it says it do. Most problems are installs and settings that are wrong. But for example on my W212 I just installed it and all worked like it should inc BT sound.

+1 to Chris: most issues come from installation errors. For example: make sure the GPS antenna is properly placed (horizontally, under the windshield and not hidden by the roof; fine to hide it under the central speaker grid). On older cars (NTG4), the installation will be a bit more complex, due to having to try different cable swaps (the A, B and A/B cables) and different screen settings. On NTG5 it's more plug'n play.

To be honest, I will just use it for Google Maps, Music and Radio. I won't have any in-depth apps. I feel like the factory screen is so underwhelming and looks terribly old!
Also,
Would you recommend Best Buy in doing the install? I contacted local shops and they all said $1000-$1200 to just install!
Hi,
Just installed mine. GLC 2018, NTG 5*2
Connection with usb adaoter didint work.
Connected via BT, I have imediat sound in left front speaker and then starts in all other spekers with delay and they keep with that difference!
Which is not good... It plays left side first (almost no delay!) and then 1 or two seconds later starts the right side!
And they play a diferentes times! The whole song.
Made a video. Look a it please. https://drive.google.com/file/d/13rw...w?usp=drivesdk
Also, if playing OEM radio and start a vido or music in unit, the sounb from unit comes from left front speaker and the radio continues in the others!!
All problems with sound are solved!
carlife sent me the last software update, and boom!
Everything working! 😁
About time!
There are some new things in icons area.
An Carplay icon and another one to turn the screen off

Perfect....Finally we solved it. It also keeps the clock displayed if you turned it off with the clock displayed and you dont have to swipe to clock back again every time you start the car.

And have in mind this has not to do with Delay on sound for the BT conection for ntg5. That is still not solved.
Yeh guys. As Cris says, the BT delay is still there.
But my problems were with the sound channels. Those were completely solved.
As for the update, better contact your seller, in my case Carlife-mall.
