Here are 2 similar cool app so you don't need to mess with that small dot in the bottom left corner of the screen to expand the home and back button. I'm using the LMT Pie on xda since I also use it on my phone. The issue I found with the xda one is that you can't access accessibility option on your screen. You need to access this for the back button to work. The one from the play store will get you to accessibility during setup. But if you are rooted then the xda one will work right away.
I have mine set to so I just swipe from the left or right side (mid section) of the screen and added a "recent app" button so I can get to my open apps quickly without going to home > apps. Also set up "quick Openquicksettings" button so I can quickly access BT, wifi, etc.
I used mtk droid tool, since the device uses a mediatek processor. Mine was pre rooted but I guess not all are. You need a computer and usb cable to hook up to the device.
Good one Chris =P lol. Can you tell me the process on an iphone? My coworker has an iphone 8. I used my note 8 as hot spot so I connected the android 10.25 and his iphone 8 to my phone. I can't seem to get it to work either. Is it supposed to install something to the iphone during connection?
UPDATE: Got it working on iphone. Had to go to the control center enable mirroring option on the phone.
I think it's kind of ironic that this android 10.25 mirroring works on iphone but not on any of my android phones lol.
1. Sometimes I get a completely black screen and the home and back screen button will pop in and out of the screen every 2 seconds?
2. Sometimes the OEM screen won't show and it's just black. I can still access the android side however.
They happen quite often and a bit annoying as I will have to shut the car off and wait about 5 min before I can restart the car. Otherwise the android system doesn't shut down so it can reboot properly.
UPDATE:
1. I think this was due to me moving youtube to sd card. After moving it back to internal storage I have not had this issue come up.
2. Still get this issue 50% of the time and am working with the seller to get it figure out. I tried reinstalling the kit all over again but no luck. I think I have a faulty video adapter but I have no way of confirming unless I get it replaced. Hopefully the seller (Innormade Car Products) can figure it out. He says he has direct contact with the engineer so we will see....
The unit is NOT rooted (at least mine wasn't). I did manage to root it using kingroot (very easy). I too was running into the space limitation problem, I used app2sd to move all my apps to sdcard. you must be rooted for this to work. I now have enough space to install various offline navigation apps. My favorite so far is 'offline maps & navigation' it is absolutely free, no ads and has a pretty decent voice guidance system, it also allows you to download offline maps and store them on external sdcard (I downloaded entire North America maps and saved on 32GB SDCard) the only downside is the app does not appear in the unit's list of nav apps, therefore you can not select it as the default nav app, you will always have to run it from the applications folder, I found that only a handful of nav apps available can be recognized for selection - Google Maps, Igo, Waze & Sygic. While browsing the root folder I found a settings file that appears to control what nav applications appear on the selection list, I will try to tweak it to see if I can add more entries to the list. Meanwhile, I am looking for a way to change some of the UI graphics to correct some minor language issues. Before making any changes be sure to backup your unit, I would not recommend messing with any of these if you are not familiar with android tweaking/rooting process.
I am on pins and needles! Please let us know asap. I never rooted anything before, but would like it done to install Waze. and update it when it is needed.
I haven't bought my unit yet. (I had contacted Chris way back when he first posted it, then there is the holidays then 1/1 - my work's busiest time with new client enrollment. Then with tax day coming. But once after 4/15, I'll find the time to tinker.)
Would like to root once I buy, and would love to know if you are successful getting access and fix the Chinglish.
Is the resolution look pretty high quality? from all the pics it looks pretty good.
Also is it true that all the Nav apps will run off of tethered phone, off of internet access?
Our GPS antenna is only good for the internal MB Navigation, correct? or does it support other 3rd part Nav apps with offline maps are downloaded? Waze doesn't do offline maps does it?
Hey guy, I’m got my console popped open and all the guys hanging out as I’m trying to install this thing. I’m a little confused.
1) Where does the AUX cable plug into?
2) fiber optics cable mentioned in Chris’ video, does it stay plugged into the OEM harness? In the video the fiber optics cables look to be red in the upper right hand of the wire harness. Mine has a blue and orange wires wrapped in a purple protective coat. Are those the same fiber optics cables?
please help. I want to get his all tucked before it gets dark. I don’t want to drive to work tomorrow with this stuff hanging out!
The fiber optics cable goes to the new harness and into the head unit. The aux cable connects to the red and white rca plugs then you route it somewhere in the car.

ok, I’ve got the optics cable plugged in, but still little confused about the AUX. The AUX that comes with your screen wire harness is a male 3.5mm plug.
There should be a female aux plug in on the harness, the unit gets audio through the aux so you have to wire it in a way that will connect to the cars factory aux. That aux is not for your phone.

I’m sorry, Chris. I’m not understanding. The harness comes with red and white female plugs and a 3.5mm male plug. What plugs into what?
red and white plug into female red and white, and the aux plug plugs into the cars factory female aux from the mmi cable in the center storage container.

I don’t see those cables in the box. These are the only cable I have left over. See pic.
That is unfortunate, you will have to buy one then and connect it to the female aux on that mmi cable on the left of that picture.
Well that sucks. I’m going to have to put everything back and then pull everything back out once I buy the cable. I still have some issues:
1) Once I go and purchase the aux cable that’s missing, I’m still not clear on where the male auxthatbis included in wire harness plugs into? The aux cable you suggested has 3 male plugs (2 colored/1 black) if the black 3.5mm male plug in your suggested six cable plugs into the mmi input, where does the 3.5mm cable in the screen harness go???
2) Ii have a spare aux cable that has male red/white plugs and a female 3.5mm plug. Can I use this one one attach a long male/male 3.5mm plug to run to the mmi input? This scenario still would leave the wire harness male 3.5mm plug unused.
3) I plugged everything in for a test run before I put everything back in place, but the OEM functions/screen won’t work. Only the android screen appears. No audio either. I checked that all connections are tight and correct. Made sure the small white plug on the right side of the head unit was plugged back in. I did not get audio using the setup described in #2.
4) once everything was plugged in, I got a warning on my dashboard that said “hazard warning flashers malfunctioning.” Any idea what could be happening here?
5) I can’t seem to slide the head unit back in with the new wire harness back there. Spent 45 min wrestling with it just now trying to get the wiring buried deep in there and couldn’t get it settled in. Any ideas/suggestions?

UPDATE:
finally got my OEM screen and functions to work! Also got audio to work on radio, CDs, etc. I didn’t need an Aux cable or anything. The issue was the big square plug that connects to the head unit. I kept wrestling with it and unplugging and plugging it back in. Finally it settles in just enough to get the functions and screen to work. Again, I didn’t need to plug in an aux cable. My voice commands work, radio works, phone works! Don’t know if anyone else had this same issue. In case some of you are wondering I have a 2014 E350.
The only issue left is getting my iPhone 7 to tether to the screen so I can use Waze or access the Internet on the screen.
