hi im new here, had a good old read before buying some alloys for my new e350, settled with VEEMANN VC540 20" 20X9 FRONT ET35 235/35/20 TYRE 20X10 REAR ET42 275/30/20 TYRE
brought them from lk performance online, they turnt up today put them on the car turns out they sent 275/35/20 on the rears, and i re read the invoice and thats what the guys put on there by mistake but i didnt notice so my fault,
so there on the car they dont rub with just me but do on the rears with people in the back,
it looks like a tractor and i want to buy some tyres to try sort it, not keen on the offsets tad aggressive.
just tought id ask if anyone has this size and offset if so how does it look on your w212
and also if theres a tyre fix to make these rears look better,
You can fit 255 on a 10 inch wide rim, that might get rid of your rubbing. I'm not sure if you can go even narrower than that safely. You could also run negative camber, but that will result in uneven tire wear.
Don't you have traction light coming? Is cruise control working past 60 mph? With different wheel rpm those things will happen.
Coming to the rubbing, if you have airmatic, you can just adjust it few mm higher. I think you need bigger offset on the rear as I hear even 300 wide tires can "be made to fit" on those cars.
Don't judge the front good till you drive over gutter at full turn.
Still 20" wheels will run your dental bills pretty high.
I had 275/35-R18 tires once in rear and they had plenty of room. No rubbing issues.
But 275/35-R20 is 2 inches bigger tire in diameter. Even if it fit it puts speedo off by 9% compared to the original 265/35-R18 rear tires. I would not want to drive a car with that much speedo error especially as the car goes that much faster than the speed indication is. Even the 275/30-R20 puts speedo 5% off.
