Hi I wound up buying a nice set of the Michelin pilot sport AS 3+ for my e350 ! 245/40ZR18 Y rated.
these tires are amazing !!!
We had a blizzard since I put them on and they were also amazing in the snow ! I love these tires and highly recommend them !

Nice! It's always good to have real world feedback on tires, and I've been looking at Michelins to replace the factory Continentals. I had DWS Extreme 06 on my Passat, and they were very good tires, but I've been really impressed by Michelin durability. How is the highway noise on these on dry pavement?

the pilot sports are quiet I don’t think they have much road noise at all to be honest

I don't know about "quiet." I had Pilot A/S on a Lexus LS430. . . for a week. On that car they sounded like a UPS truck was next to me. I returned them and went with Dunlop SP5000, which were similar to the OEM tires for that model car, but a much wider profile.
I am thinking of trying the A/S again, though, when my OEM Conti's wear out. The E with sport suspension is a much different car.

I replaced the factory continentals with the AS3+ last month and it was night and day. So much quieter. virtually no noise on the highway. Ride is smoother and handling is better too. We just finished a 1100 mile road trip on these new tires and I would highly recommend them for the W212/S212.

I also put these on my 2010 e550 last April, they are pretty good IMO, but I got some highway noise when I hit 190km/h when passing semis

I’m with you when I bought the Michelin pilot AS last year they were only on the car for about two weeks (too stiff and loud) before I went back to the Continental Extreme DWS. Ride is much better now, Much more forgiving but still gives me great traction.
Glad the Michelin’s worked out for you though it’s always good to get feedback from people

Thanks for sharing your new set of tires!
I currently have the A/S 3+ on my 2010 with 18" wheels. My tires were not exposed to snow at all. From my experience, these are great performing tires. Traction is great both in dry and wet. Very quiet on the road at low speeds and high speeds (> 70mph) for the first 10,000 miles. These have a stiffer structure than the Continental DWSs. You can expect to go through corners a little faster IMO or should I say more confidently. Tires got stiffer overtime, not sure if it's due to the weather or the rubber compound.
Since I have a staggered setup, my rears went bald at around 20,000 miles, and my fronts looks like they may survive up to 25,000 miles. If you don't have a staggered setup like me, you can rotate them and get more life out of them. Sitting at 20,000 miles the tires are starting to get a little hum, not very noticeable.
Something my local tire shop noted with all Michelin tires they've seen: Excess rubber lining on the inside of the tires may separate over time due to heat. These will create little rubber ***** that may collect inside the tires. Tires may feel out of balance because of this, so check them occasionally.

I always buy Michelin. They always get the best reviews. They always last forever. Best in snow. Best handling. This time i wanted to save some money. I bought some BFG all season Y rated directionals. Comp A/S 2 something. They are awesome!. Stiff sidewalls. Completely changed the way the car handles. Yes the ride is a little more harsh. In my opinion the Contis are junk. The sport version of the car should have been set up like this from the factory. If you live in a snow bound climate these are a solid choice. I was worried about trying to save a buck given my love for michelin products. I can say I made the right choice!

That is a great endorsement. I had the earlier version of this tire on my BMW but it never snowed enough for me to test it in the snow really. I also love how Michelins ride but on my wife's 2008 E350 the contis have been great - they last about 60000 miles/set.

The Contis on mine were at the end of their life cycle. Dangerous in the snow. I really felt they were a little soft. These BFG's are probably not as good as the Michelins in the snow but we had 8 inches of snow the other day and I was able to go where other people were getting stuck. The dry pavement handling is what I'm most impressed with. Since I plan to move back to FL in the coming months I should be okay for next winter. I'm done with snow and cold!

I have Dunlop SportMaxx on my ‘15 C63S now and am not very impressed... Ok when it’s dry & warm but otherwise not very good traction. I had Michelin Super Sports on my ‘09 C63 and loved them. Planning on going with the AS3+ when my Dunlop’s wear out, can’t wait!

I'll add my recommendation for these tires. For me, the michelin pilot sport a/s 3+ tires combined the best performance and treadwear ratings for the price. So far they provide excellent dry grip and ride quality, and if they last north of 30k miles with stagger (they come with a 45k treadlife warranty non-stagger), I'll be happy.

The front tires are having chunks of rubber peeling off the edges of the tires. Rears look fine.
The car is aligned and tires inflated properly.
Do a search and you'll find this being a common problem.

I change my mind. Great performance but something is wrong with these tires as they wear.

Thanks for the long term review. I have nearly new Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval AS tires that are noisy to the extreme and looking to ditch them, they are great in every other aspect (no snow or ice experience) but the noise factor just kills the whole experience. Like someone above said Michelin all the way, have yet to have a bad experience with about a dozen sets of Michelins.
