LACK OF POWER
Hi guys !
New to the forum.
Hopeing someone can shed some light on an issue i have ? My car is a w212/2123 63 reg E220 CDI Saloon Manual
It started around 3 weeks ago my partner went to set off to work in the morning and there was no acceleration power it would not go over 2500 revs for around a mile or so then it cleared ? Now this has been going on for the last couple of weeks and has brought up the engine light for around 20 seconds and has never come back on again.
Today i took to local MB dealer to get a diagnostic to try and find the fault which brought up 2 old stored faults. 1 x Air intake Temp sensor and the other was deleted which was a very old one they said so never got to find out ??
They said they can't do anything till the engine management light comes back on ! which it has not as yet.
I took the car to an independent mercedes specialist today and the same code came up as Air Intake Temp sensor ? i just find it had to think a £20 part will resolve the issue.
I have noticed when its running flat i get a back pressure rumble from the exhaust when i touch the excelerator ? but when it clears you don't get it.
When the flat running clears it drives and pulls as it should ! Its driving me crazy as it could be a simple fix or something ie: other sensors which i could tackle myself.
It just does not give me much hope with it only finding the Air intake Temp sensor and could find myself running round in circles and charged silly money for a tiny £20 part only for another issue to arrise.
Thanks in advance for any help in trying to diagnose.

If its an IAT code (P0113?)
coming up repeatedly I don't understand why you don't replace it. Unless different on your car its usually a 5 minute low cost fix. The sensor provides inlet air temperature so the ecm can provide correct air/fuel balance based on calculated air density. Your symptoms do sound like improper air/fuel ratio. Check the connector as well for possible corrosion at the pins.

Keep in mind that with aany sensor (or any electronic part), the problem could be the sensor itself, OR it could be the connector OR the wiring. ALWAYS test to make sure it is just the sensor. Make sure a ground is really grounded, that other wires aren't grounded or shorted or that connnections are being made.
