Question Transmission mount

Have a 2011 E350 with 71K and have been told by dealer that transmission mount needs to be replaced. Dealer wants $250 to replace. Anyone have a part number and source....I'm thinking independent shop as it does not look like a tough job. Car is out of warrantee !

Mount is about 30-40 bucks for Lemfoerder which is OEM
and it should not take more than an hour at indy shop and they pricing is way less.. about 80-120 an hour , so all comes up to around 170-200 max. Roughly.... ofcoarse all places are different. But use indy shop to save some money id say.

No the part itself is 30 bucks.
and indy shop labor should not take more than hour , and usually its around 100/1hr plus minus. So if you do the math... there is a lot of savings. Atleast in my case.

Why do they think that the transmission mount needs replaced? Are there any symptoms?

Wife took car in for oil change......service guy called to say rear tire tread was low and tranny mount needed to be replaced. I have not put the car up to check mount and while I hardly ever drive her car I have NOT noted any symptoms. I'm just jumping the gun on part # etc.

Just did my trans mount in the garage, with a floor jack, in under 1 hour. Part was $25 Lemfoerder off eBay. It was the correct part, not a knockoff from China.
16mm and 13mm sockets required - 5 bolts total. You need to raise and support the rear of the trans oil pan when swapping the mount. DIY 2 on scale of 10. Easier than oil change.

I had a low frequency hum/vibration felt when cruising at 65-70. Adjusting the throttle made it come and go. I ruled out the engine mounts, and took a chance it was the trans mount.
The old mount had contact marks where it was touching the bottom of the mount, and shows visible sag compared to the replaced part.
Car has 53K miles and is rear drive Bluetec. These parts do not last long on most MB products, but at least they are cheap.
