Brake pads question

Brake pads question
Hello everyone. The dealer told me that the car should give me a warning light saying my break pads are low. Is that correct??
Current pads have over 65k on it.

My experience is that these cars typically have a sensor on the inboard pad on the passenger side, front and rear brakes. When the pad wears to a certain point the sensor will make ground on the rotor and complete the warning message circuit.
The assumption is that both left and right side pads will wear equally. However, there is always a possibility that the non-sensor side might wear more quickly or have an issue causing the faster wear, such as a sticking caliper. This happened to me - sensor side was fine but the front left caliper was sticking and caused the pad to completely wear down. No warning until actual grinding and ruined rotor.
65k seems like a lot of miles for pads on these cars. Are you original owner? Any previous work done ? If there are questions in your mind the only way to really verify is pull the wheels and take a good look.

Definitely pull a couple wheels and look. No way are you on original pads and rotors. Yes, you will get a warning if everything is normal.

Your SA never mentioned your brakes conditions in all of those miles? Weird

Yup brake pads are low..will replace them in a week or so..the front passenger side is still ok, but the driver side is really low..thanks all for help.
I would love to get bigger brake, but the e63 rotors cost so much. Is there any other option with bigger good looking calipers.

Thanks for the update. That little niche at the top of the rightmost pad in your photo is where the sensor slide down into. It has a very skinny post that fits in the hole. You should have 2 sensors, one in front and one in the rear on the passenger side.

The picture shows pads at about 4 mm , or about 30% of wearable left. Measure to confirm. The sensor is at about 2 mm.
I've been doing more than 100k miles on pads in sedans, but whenever I buy new ones, they are always Akebono

I was thinking about Akebono pads. Which rotors do you like?

Quick FYI. I purchased OEM pads for my 2010 E550 from Autohauz and they were carrying the Akebono stamp. OEM MB box and the MB star stamped on them as well. These OEM pads were Akebono.

since we are talking brake pads and rotors, my SA mentioned I have aftermarket pads and rotors, causing hissing noise while driving over small speed bumps at lower speeds.
Is there such possibility? meaning the aftermarket ones are not that great in terms of fitness?

Rotors are lifetime item for me.
Years ago bought W210 with 176k miles and rotors had bad lips, so I ordered new MB rotors on Amazon.
Turned out Amazon EPC suck and they send me wrong rotors.
That made me measuring the thickness only to find I still have 60% of wearable left.
Grind the lips and sold the car to fellow forum members 8 years later with 280k on original rotors.
