E Class W212 E500
Will these wheels fit

Searched around and getting mixed views. Can someone please tell me if wheels in the following specs would fit on a pre-facelift W212 E500 with airmatic, or would they stick out past the guard?

Front: 20x9 ET+40
Rear: 20x10.5 ET+40

And if you think they may fit, what size tyres would you recommend to avoid rubbing?

Thanks.

I have:
Front: 20x9.5 ET45 with 265/30/20 Michelin Pilot Sport
Rear: 20x9.5 ET40 (same as front but with 5mm spacer) with same 265/30/20 Michelin Pilot Sport

Zero rubbing for me, I also have AirMatic, lowered about 25mm from stock

I would probably suggest that you go with 255/30 for front and 275/30 for rear to avoid rubbing,

This is how much they stick out with the offsets listed above, your rear will stick out a further 0.5" (12mm) than my rear, your fronts should be about the same as mine

Did the old wheel's bolt fit or you have to get a new set on this sets? Why didn't go go with ET45 on the rear instead of ET40 with 5mm spacer?

They probably would have been long enough, but I bough new bolts because they were really cheap. I got them from a local place, but you can order from them as well. https://www.ezaccessory.com/

Also, I was going from an OEM Mercedes wheel to another OEM Mercedes wheel, so the back pad thickness was relatively the same. If you're going from OEM to aftermarket, I would measure the backpad thickness as it might not be same as OEM. By back-pad thickness I mean the distance from the lug seat to the back surface of the wheel. Going OE to OE they are relatively the same, but aftermarket can be any thickness.

love the wheel design on a 212. Got more pics on a different angle? Cheers!

So these wheels are an upgraded to 20" MB OE?

W212 never came with 20's. These are GL63 wheels. Though not meant for the E class the offset is right and while they are significantly wider (9.5" wide both front and rear) they do fit just fine.

Mercedes uses same thickness back pads on all wheels so they only have to stock one lug bolt size. If you add any spacer wider than say 3mm, you'll need new, longer bolts
