I've been in the market to replace my 07 bluetec for quite some time. Been waiting on the 16 E400s to come down to around 35k and have done a ton of research. A family member just purchased a 15 E350 with basically every option except distronic, pano, full leather an airmatic. I've had a chance to spend a little bit of time with and found that the stereo system seems a bit underwhelming compared to my facelift W211, however I only tested with Sirius. Most all of the music on my car is coming from a Dension Gateway 500 MP3 register.

Has anyone owned both and can share your thoughts as to whether or not the system seems like a downgrade? The middle and lower range just don't seem to pack much substance and it sounds more echoy. To ensure things were configured the same, both are set to Logic 7 mode, default balance/fade and about +4 on the bass and treble.


Also, is there any way to get the 360 camera to come on when pulling head first into a tight spot? It's great for reverse, but I've seen other newer cars have it come on when doing low speed maneuvers.

I went from an 07 E to a 14 E. I'm not much of an audiophile so the hk system doesn't sound any different to me besides that it probably has a few more watts. The 2016's should have an updated comand system over my 14 but sound system would probably be the same. Definitely does not feel like a downgrade though. Sorry if this doesn't answer your question.

For your 360 camera what you can do it preset your star button located by your control scrolling knob, and have it set to turn on front camera every time you press it. If you do not have massage seats, then you'll have 2 programmable star buttons.

I can confirm that XM radio sounds like utter poop on the 2011 W212's HK system, but that's because HD Radio sounds so good nowadays. Also I've noticed that bluetooth streaming is a hit or miss. With my LG V10 phone it sounded phenomenal, however with my current Blackberry KeyOne it sounds like crap again.

If you truly want amazing sounds, listen to a real/non-burned CD on the HK system, or hook up a loss-less audio source to the AUX input, a good quality source material absolutely brings this system to life. I currently have the 10.25" touchscreen installed with Tidal app playing lossless files directly to the HK system and it sounds better than any car stereo I've ever owned. I'll try out the Burmister on my parent's W222 this weekend and see how that compares.

Generally agree with Ungarisch here. The bluetooth streaming on my 2011 is both poor sound quality and spotty connection reliability. I've tried a few different solutions, and now really enjoying this adapter that goes on the 30-pin iPod MMI connector in the glovebox. Both sound quality and connection robustness are vastly improved.

I came from a 07 e63 and jumped into a 2015 e400 and I think it's a huge upgrade from my o7 E .. i also have the 360 camera and like the previous post stated I have it set to my fav ( star) .. if u get a chance to grab a 400 I say jump on it
