Slowly converting the lights on the E350

I've always been a light freak. So when I purchased the E350, I knew the yellowish bulbs wouldn't do.

Last night I started the transformation and switched out the parking lights.

And today, I attempted to change the DRLs. Holy *****!!! They didnt make changing bulbs on this car easy! I'm guessing you'll need to remove the wheel, part of the wheel liner just to get to the bulb area. Then from what I can see, you have to remove the DRL housing because there is a metal clip that you have to pry out. And it's impossible to do it when its attached to the car. Then there's the drivers side... and of course, it's the worst. Surpirse, the water bottle reservoir, just to make it a little more challenging. <facepalm> I may just skip this and just turn off the DRLs. Lets hope the low beams is not as hard once the HID kit comes in.

Well... had time to kill and I tackled the DRLs. It was easy but PITA because of the amount of stuff you need to remove to be able to get to it.

And unfortunately, the DRLs don’t come on at night so I could take a picture of it. I’ll try to snap a few tomorrow. Last are the Headlights with the morimotos.

Me too! I have the complete conversion on my Tundra including the projectors. Not a hiccup.

Btw, here’s the DRLs. Much better.

I was contemplating on changing the fogs as well. But decided against it as I think it won’t be as functional in fog.

I like the dual fogs as well.

Second favorite front end.

Final piece arrived. Morimoto HID kit.

Went with 5500k. Not an exact match to the led city lights but it’ll do. No more yellow lights.

Which Morimoto HID kit did you order? I have halogens on my E550 (the car is super low optioned), and I'm interested in upgrading to HID. Thanks!

While you’re doing front end light, I’d definitely look at these. I put them in while converting the entire car to LED (except low beams which are HID), and they look incredible! No errors, looks factory, and definitely updates the look.

The 35w 5.5k kit with canbus connectors is what I've had for close to 3 yrs now. Not sure of the OP selection, but I've used 3 of the Morimoto kits in different vehicles and have always gone with 35w.

TheRetroFitSource makes it easy to get your right kit. Plug in your year/make/model and it'll recommend you the kit.

Mine was the Morimoto Elite H7.

I went with the same. Yes, make sure you get the Canbus connectors.

I'm completely converted now to LED/HID with the exception of the fogs. I decided to leave those the "yellowish" bulbs. I think it'll be better for fog use.

These are front turn signal bulbs with the resistors built in.
