Has anybody ever seen this before? Just saw it in a car for sale online, and was completely surprised somebody would opt for this over the android units... Thoughts?

 

That's a first for me. Personally that screen is too low glance at while driving IMO.

Not my cup of tea either. But, got to give the guy some points for the effort and execution.

I have done several conversions to aftermarket to improve the sound and add extra functionality. But after the last one, once I figured out how much time I have spent on getting the unit to talk properly to CAN bus and getting face plate to fit perfectly and match other surfaces, I vouched to never do it again and pay extra if needed for the car that fits my wants and sound quality taste.
2016 E350 came to ~95% there on the infotainment department.

That pile of sh(i) t , no different than some nerds installing those huge 10+ inch screens.

 

The radio looks out of place, and I can't understand what would possess anyone to discard the Comand system for it.

Worse still is the relocation ot the button controls to the space allocated for the Comand Display. Those tiny buttons look so out of place.

 

That's just wrong.

 

Brings to mind that just because you CAN do something doesn't always mean you SHOULD.
Really wrecks the symmetry of the dash and makes it more distracting to do anything related to COMAND, etc.

 

No wonder the car was traded 🤣🤣🤣
