Replacing rear shocks - DIY
Has anyone here tried replacing their own shocks on a 2012? The underside of the car is very simple, it's the trunk that looks daunting. I really don't want to take more apart than I have to but I have not found any instructions on the W212. The dealer price is ridiculous mostly because of the price of the genuine Mercedes shocks.

Those are very helpful. Just as I thought, the trunk will take the most time.

Question, is this information open on the internet or do you have access that you purchased?

I had an indy do mine, didn't take that long about an hour. Used Bilstein shocks. I also ended up changing the springs a year later as the car started sitting a bit low.

How many miles on the car? Unless it's way over 100 or you ride some really rough roads every day, I would be surprised that the shocks are shot..

The car only has 90k miles on it however 2 different shops, 1 an indy the other a dealer have documented leaky rear shocks.

Mine had a bit over 100k when I did them, the back tires were also scalloped which also comes from having bad shocks.
