Questions on DIY Aux Battery replacement Facelift version.!

Hello guys,
My Aux battery needs replacement.
MB Dealer asked 200$ including installation with 2 year warranty. Autozone I can get for 100$ without installation (3 year warranty).

The reason Autozone cannot install the battery is because, "these cars needs some kind of memory stick and additional power source while replacing, so it won't lose the memory".
Can it be done DIY at home? Please share the steps if so.
I know main battery should be OEM only. But this Aux Battery also?

TIA.

Total bull sh-t. You do not need any type of back up or replacement power while changing aux battery. I took my battery out drove to auto zone and bought battery and then came home and installed it Nothing happened anywhere to anything. This is just a gimmick for the dealers to make money. Nothing got lost. Taking out 10 minutes putting in 8 minutes. Driving to autozone 1 hour.

Actually the autozone guy told me to take it to a shop. Dealer didn't compel me on this.

What are the steps to remove the battery?
1. Remove negative terminal
2. Remove positive terminal and wrap it in non-conducting material and not touch the body of the vehicle.
3. replace the battery,
4. Positive terminal first
5. negative terminal then.

Is that the process?

And what are the tools needed, I'll do in a Autozone parking lot.

TIA.

You have to take off the hold down strap first then do the rest.
The only thing I did was put tape on the terminals when I took them off just in case it touches metal by accident. I believe there are 2 nuts holding down the hold down strap. I think they were 10mm and the terminal nuts were 7mm but I am not sure. Before you go to auto zone try the sockets to make sure you have the right size,

Yes, you have the right procedure. Always start and end with the negative terminal. These auto supply shops are just afraid of their employees frying somebody's $80,000 car and having to pay up.
Take your time and you will be fine.

I'm going there to use (borrow) their tools. I'm a contractor (software developer) and all I have is a screw drive at my home, lol. I move to new city after this job, so, I like to travel light.

E350
#6 unplug vent hose (the clear hose on the side)
#7 use 10 mm socket to remove cage hold screw
#8 lift open cage and remove battery
#9 reverse step 8-1 with new battery

All you need is a 10 mm socket for the aux battery. Let us know if the battery replacement solve all your "xxxx inoperative issues"

Thanks you all guys, It was easier than I thought. just needed the 10mm socket wrench and a piece of cloth.
The duralast battery came with deep holes in the terminal vs OEM batteries with long thread, so it took a while to figure it out on how to put it (wedged some match sticks to bring it to the height then tightened).
Total cost: 97$ with 3 year warranty.

One more thing, this battery didn't came with the hole for leaked acid thing. Is that fine?

yes, new battery fixed the eco start/stop shutting off feature and the stereo doesn't have any problem with stereo also, it always stays on with these restarts.
