Winter is coming

Good Afternoon,

Just throwing it out there, but anyone have starting issues with their W212 in the winter time? By that I mean when the temp outside drops past -30 Deg C to even -40 Deg C and the car parked outside. Just looking if I need to prepare anything like whats the the best way to make sure the battery won't be dead. Would a block heater be helpful or redundant? The dealership told me not to worry about such things. But I thought I'd ask fellow owners what temps there W212 has gone through. Any info would help. Thanks.

FYI. Mines the 2012 E550 4matic

Those W212 batteries don't seem to last too long. I don't think you need the heater, but you might want to have the battery fully charged on a charger once in a while. Don't do it when it's really cold though as you don't want to charge a frozen battery.

Sorry, couldn't resist.. Park in the garage (it's warmer in there), and drive it once a week.

Although winter will almost be gone by the time the last season comes out on April 2019.

True dat... not to mention a need to watch the last two seasons "On Demand" just to remind myself what happened two years ago...
