1 ignition coil loose

Hi all, so today I decided to change my air filters took off the cover and just was inspecting the engine. On the right side of the engine the middle coil looks odd. I took a closer look and it was a little out of the spark plug hole. Both screws were completely off too. I took the coil out and there was some dark residue on it. I cleaned it up and put the coil back and screwed it properly. Anyone think there could have been an issue before? There was no misfires and the engine ran fine

2014 E550-sold 😩
Those screws don't usually back out on their own, so someone was in there. Probably replaced the coil and then closed everything up without putting the screws back into place.

If it screwed in without issue, I think you should be fine moving forward. Makes you wonder what else might be loose though....

Oh, I've heard some stories about cars that have been sold as CPO. Let's just say some dealers have questionable practices. I even saw at one "good" dealer a $100K CPO car to which they showed me the shop receipt. I noticed that only 3 of the tires had been replaced. Apparently one of the tires met minimum specs (I believe 50% tread or so) so they left it on. On a $100K car!
