I need help with my dad's car. The systems goes in operative intermittently. It'll be okay for some time (a few days or weeks) and then it'll be inoperative for some time (a few days) before it'll work again. The amount of time it stays inoperative seem to be increasing as it used to go away after restarting the car but now it stays inoperative for quite some time before fixing itself. It started doing this quite some time ago. Brought the car to a mechanic, says it'll be an expensive repair. Want to have a second opinion before going through with it.
