Carbon Fiber KeylessGo Button
Well, technically Red Texalium but I thought it was a nice little touch of color in my Black Interior.

You can get them on eBay for around $10.

OK- you guys are too damn smart. It is one of the overlays from Amazon/eBay. The trick is to find the ones that don’t have additional text on them. It is not a simple sticker but a hard cover available in Red it Black held in place by 3M adhesive. Fit and finish are perfect.

The standard keyless go button looks great.
That said, I'm thinking of making a completely new replacement button in 3D print then adding this cap. Just to have something to do.

I pulled out my keyless go button and insert the key.
Too many "Key Not Found" warnings, and too many people stealing cars using Keyless Go.
I wish mine didn't have the keyless go option, I'd rather push the button on the remote and unlock the doors.

Key not found is typically the battery in the fob needing replacement. It's one of the best options on the car, I use it all the time. You sort of need a sophisticated thief in order for them to steal you car. It's somewhat rare which is why it even gets reported. Over all car theft is way down from what it was 10-20 years ago.

No Keyless Go, no battery codes.
I am glad you like it, I don't miss it one iota.

I hardly ever get that message, only happens maybe when the key is buried in my pocket and the phone is on top of it which blocks the signal. Then I take the key out or move my phone and it's fine. Could be a key going bad, try the other one. If you're really worried about someone using a device to amply the signal and steal your car, you can just hit the lock button twice and that will turn off the keyless go function on the fob til you hit it again.

No AMG unfortunately, and we'll just leave it as that
If you bought batteries by the 10-pack, are you sure the batteries are legit? There are a lot of coin cells sold online (including eBay) that are fakes and have very low capacity. They will register 3.2V out of the package but drop to 2.9V after less than 1-3 weeks. I went quickly through 3 or 4 CR2025 from an eBay source that looked like real Sony batteries, hoping they were fluke bad outliers, before I broke down and got some from Safeway (of all places) at about $1/battery. After that, no more low battery notifications.

Can anyone confirm that the OEM keyless GO ignition button has no electronics within it? They seem cheap enough on merchandising sites to indicate no electronics, so I suspect not. But it would be good to verify before I spend time designing a 3D print duplicate.
Goal is to deplicate the factory part, only 1-2mm shallower, so that when the button is added to the top, it sits within the ignition without protruding

Why not just buy one on Ebay and take it apart? They're only $15. Also if you make it shallower, aren't you afraid it will be too shallow and won't be enough to start the car when pressed?

Besides, I couldn't find the OEM button for less than $21+. I can also cast a duplicate of the part, if the materials on hand have not exceeded their expiration date. In which case the part will cost ZERO.
The button sits atop the properly seated factory part. Accordingly, it sticks out. The intent in making the button shorter, is so that the button overlay will sit where the saucer of the OEM part sits. It will work fine.

Your skills definitely exceed mine- I was excited a few years ago when I put Red Lamin-x Film on my KeylessGo Button. The current cover was a huge upgrade for me and I'd love to see what you've come up with.

AkaSigFreak, with the decorative red button in place, how easy is it to remove the button assembly from the ignition? I'm asking because the red piece overlays the edges of the stock button, which posits whether you still have finger nail room to remove it.
