Dummies guide to troubleshooting heated seats issues?
Just bought a pre-facelift W212 E350 CDI Sport, and it's great, just sorting out some niggles now, and learning more about the car! Previous BMW E39 owner....
One of the issues is the heated seats: On the passenger side, the back, side bolsters, and the base sides and under thigh elements are all working, but the main lower/base/*** element doesn't seem to come on. On the driver's side, the back and side bolsters work, but none of the 'lower' base ones do.
They're also quite slow to warm up. The lights on the dash do turn on and go from 3 to 2 to 1, as they should, but it's slow to actually provide the heat.
I'm aware that it's most likely that the elements have been damaged by kneeling/kids jumping on them (pricey) but I was hoping for a troubleshooting guide on the 1% off-chance that it's a fuse or connector that's at fault.
Does anything like this exist, or could you guys offer any help troubleshooting e.g. where are the relevant fuses located, which connections to check, and are there different connectors for the different elements, or is there just one connection to power all the heating elements?
I've tried to look under the seat from the back, but it's hard to see anything down there!
Thanks - any advice appreciated...
Ed

Thanks so much for your responses - my VIN is A082770... so I guess that's much lower than A703331?
I have not noticed any lumps but will look again first thing in the morning.
Unfortunately both the links you guys posted don't work, but I'll give them a google! I'm based in the UK by the way.
Cheers,
Ed
