Removing space saver and utilising the spare wheel well space?

Hi all

I really should have bought an estate (wagon), or at least a car with folding seats! But I have a saloon/sedan pre-facelift W212 and I love it - but 2x a week, I need to carry big items like guitars, keyboards (in cases) and an expensive guitar amp (which has to remain upright, but the boot is too shallow to fit in normal).

I got thinking - I have a spare wheel well which makes the boot so much deeper. I have a space saver there, but I don’t think all w212s came with the spare wheel, did they?

Anyway, my amp would fit perfectly in that space. But it’s bare metal and plastic and could do with some ‘lining’. Anyone without a wheel well able to show me what their space looks like?

Is it possible that a couple of times a week, I could replace the boot trim with that of a car that didn’t have a space saver and stick the amp in there, along with a can of tyre foam in case of puncture?

Thanks!
