I saw several threads from a few years back and wondered if any new info has surfaced as to why these cars are so noisy at startup both cold & warm. I received a TSB # LI05.10-P-056435 from a good shop in my area, this refers to replacing check valve & chain tensioners as they have been upgraded ??? Hoping to share this and get some new input from anyone. Thanks for any responses!!

Are you talking about lifter noise for the first second or so when the engine starts from cold? My car does that and while it is annoying, its not serious. Since these cars use hydraulic lifters, after a time some of the lifters become a bit clogged up and instead of holding on to the engine oil inside, they let it drain out while sitting. So when the car starts up, there is some clatter as the cam hits them and they fill themselves back up with oil. The only cure is to remove the heads and replace all the lifters.

I havent heard of problems with chain tensioners on the 350 motor, that was an issue on earlier V8's of about 20 years ago. Somebody else may want to chime in if they know different.
